Calla celebrates the elegance and simplicity of the calla lily.

I have always admired the graceful curve of the flower and the way something so simple in form can still feel so strong and striking. The painting celebrates that feminine quality, while also focusing on the bold shapes, movement and contrast within the flowers and leaves.

For me, the calla lily is another example of nature creating something both delicate and powerful.

Flourish Boldly was inspired by the beautiful way hydrangeas change colour as the seasons move on.

The painting celebrates the curves and fullness of the flowers and leaves, with a feminine but bold feel. Layers of colour and detail create depth throughout the work, while still keeping the composition loose and expressive.

I wanted it to feel abundant, confident and full of life — much like hydrangeas themselves.

Magnificent Magnolia was inspired by a row of magnolia trees on our property in the Waikato, which I always appreciated as trees, but especially when they came into flower.

I loved the scale and beauty of the blooms at their peak, and also the contrast of the rusty underside of the leaves against the rich dark green of the other side, which helped the white flowers stand out even more. It felt like another example of nature creating something bold and beautiful.

The painting became a way of acknowledging that brief period when the trees were at their most magnificent. It is a celebration of beauty made even more special by how fleeting it can be.

Treasured Finds is about the friendships we gather along the way through life.

The many petals represent the beautiful friends and acquaintances who become part of our journey, each adding something different along the way. The three gems represent those rare friendships that leave a lasting, loving imprint on your life — the people who will always hold a place in your heart.

It is a painting about connection, memory and the friendships we truly treasure.

Hidden Wonder is a celebration of the beauty found in the simplest parts of nature.

The “hidden” refers to the beauty that is so easy to overlook — the things we see every day without really noticing. If you stop and look closely, even something as simple as a cluster of leaves reveals beautiful shapes, colours and patterns.

The painting is about noticing what is already there, and finding wonder in the ordinary.

Tui Aroha is a celebration of the beauty and character of the tūī.

Rather than painting the bird in a traditional way, the work is almost a deconstructed interpretation of its distinctive colours, markings and features. The deep tones, flashes of colour and recognisable details are brought together in a more abstract way.

It is simply about appreciating one of New Zealand's most beautiful and unmistakable birds.

June's Bouquet was painted soon after my Nana, June, passed away at the age of 103.

She loved flowers and had such a happy, gentle presence — always light in spirit and almost always smiling. This painting became a way of remembering that warmth and the joy she brought to the people around her.

It is a simple tribute to June, filled with flowers, colour and love.

Landscape

Untitled Landscape is a simple representation of the New Zealand landscape — open, quiet and bold in form.

The river runs through the composition, creating a sense of movement through an otherwise remote and still setting. I wanted to capture the strength and simplicity of the land rather than paint a specific place in detail, using muted tones and heavier shapes to give the landscape a sense of weight and presence.

It is a pared-back celebration of land, water, colour and space.

About the artist

I'm Tracey Harvey, a self-taught oil painter based in Cambridge, New Zealand. I've been painting for twelve years, and my work has been part of group exhibitions overseas and sold in galleries here at home. My paintings have found homes across New Zealand and further afield, in the United States, Singapore and Australia.

After years living overseas, coming home changed the way I see things. The open landscapes, the slower rhythm and the sense of belonging here all find their way into my work.

I work with a vivid, layered palette and the undulating lines found in nature. Some of my paintings tell a story, while others are simply a celebration of colour, strength and femininity.

I accept a limited number of commissions where the project is a good fit with my style of painting.

Archival fine art prints are available of selected paintings, in sizes that fit standard frames, so they can find their way into more homes.

Not every painting is released as a print, so please get in touch if there is a particular work you have in mind and I will let you know whether it is available.

Prints are supplied unframed by default, but I'm happy to organise framing for you. Just mention it when you get in touch.
